(From May 2016)

This is our wildest, goofiest, most outrageous episode yet and why not, we’re taking on the challenge of creating a sequel to the 1984 atomic stinker, Supergirl. You know, the film about Superman’s cousin that was so bad Christopher Reeve backed out of a minor cameo and Warner Brothers refused to release it?

With former Hollywood heavyweights like Faye Dunaway, Peter O’Toole, Mia Farrow and newcomer Helen Slater in the title role, you would think it this superhero spin-off had what it takes to match the legacy of Richard Donner’s Superman, but you would be wrong.
Take hero with inexplicable logic, a villain whose fashion rivals the cast of Dynasty and a story that basically amounts to a super-powered catfight over a hunky doofus and it’s plain to see why this was a super-bomb at the box office. But it makes for some great comedy!

The Maiden of Steel has made a comeback recently on the popular CBS Supergirl TV series, but how do you continue the adventures of Kara Zor-El in a cinematic world now defined by Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel? Jeff, Justin and Adam came up with some pretty epic ideas and managed to work in a musical number that’s sure to offend somebody.

Listen in and tell your friends!

The House Show 010 - WWF In Your House: Mind Games

June 4, 2020

On today's episode we talk about a WWF that is just about to change. WCW Monday Nitro has taken the lead. The kids who worshiped Hulk Hogan are now teenagers and young adults wanting something more edgy. WWF isn't yet fully committed to taking the product in a new direction. An upstart more mature company is getting noticed and fans are treating them as an equal alternative to WWF. All of this comes to a head September 22, 1996 from the CoreStates Center in the home of Extreme - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania!

15,000 of the hardest to please wrestling fans on earth showed up for the tenth installment in the In Your House series. Kevin asks Matty Treats if he is one of those fans. As usual we comment on what the front row is doing and, wait a minute! They don't work here! Why are ECW wrestlers Tommy Dreamer and Sandman along with Paul Heyman sitting in the front row? We talk about wrestlers that appear but don't have matches, like the legendary Fake Diesel and Fake Razor. Discussion of Jim Cornette's wrestling talent. Rodeo Sunny appears. Jim Ross begins his heel turn. Mankind is in phenomenal shape. Kevin makes too many anime references. Then we talk about one of the most violent matches we've seen since this podcast began and how it matches up with our nostalgic memories. All of this plus our trademark match breakdowns, wrestling history, side stories, and bad jokes.

Tonight's matches include:

Savio Vega vs. Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw (with Uncle Zebekiah) in a Caribbean Strap Match.

Jose Lothario vs. Jim Cornette.

Owen Hart and the British Bulldog (with Clarence Mason) vs. The Smoking Gunns with Sunny (WWF Tag Team Champions).

Mark Henry vs. Jerry "the King" Lawler

The Undertaker vs. Goldust (with Marlena).

Shawn Michaels (WWF Champion) (with Jose Lothario) vs. Mankind (with Paul Bearer).

The Retro Network’s own Kevin Decent (@MaskedLibrary) along with his two best friends “Sweet” Matty Treats (@MattyTreats) and Matt “the Educator of Excellence” are revisiting the WWF’s In Your House pay per view events over the course of the worldwide quarantine. The House Show 008 - WWF In Your House: Beware of Dog

May 21, 2020

What happens when the power goes out during a live wrestling pay per view? Your three hosts of The House Show think it would go a little something, like this.

On May 26, 1996 WWF was presenting the eighth In Your House event. There was a powerful thunderstorm in the area but WWF always brings back up generators for their production trucks. Unfortunately the arena had no backup. Shortly after the first match airs, the feed goes out. WWF had to scramble. A plan for fans in attendance, a plan for those watching at home, and a plan for the wrestlers in the ring. The power returned and the pay per view was back on the air in time for the main event.

To make up for this act of God, WWF scheduled In Your House Beware of Dog for the following Tuesday. Monday Night Raw aired in between as scheduled, and the affected the results of the make up show. These few days are one of the craziest stories in wrestling history.

Beware of Dog 1 was held at the Florence Civic Center in Florence, South Carolina for 6,000 fans. Two nights later on May 28 Beware of Dog 2 took place at the North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, South Carolina for 4,500 fans. To this day, this is the only WWF pay per view to ever take place in South Carolina. Maybe there's a reason for that.

It wouldn't be The House Show without tangents. Tune in to this episode as the Trios champions discuss: wrestling themed food trucks, when is it okay to insult a woman, what is "attempted alienation of affection", and could Goldust happen today? Kevin surprises the other hosts by saying something nice about Diana Hart Smith. A fan heckles the wrestlers so much it not only breaks their concentration, but also ours 25 years later. Plus the always popular crickets make an appearance.

Tonight's matches include:

From Night 1:

"Wildman" Marc Mero (with Sable) vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley.

(Power Outage)

Shawn Michaels (WWF Champion, accompanied by Jose Lothario) vs. The British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith (with Diana Hart Smith, Clarence Mason, and Owen Hart).

From Night 2:

Savio Vega vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin (with Ted DiBiase) in a Caribbean Strap Match. Also, if Vega wins DiBiase will leave the WWF but if Austin wins Vega has to be DiBiase's chauffeur.

Vader (with Jim Cornette) vs. Yokozuna.

Goldust (WWF Intercontinental champion, with Marlena) vs. The Undertaker (with Paul Bearer) in a Casket Match.

This trios team has been watching wrestling all their lives and debating the outcomes since high school. Join them each and every week and invite them in your house.
